No Sew Fabric Carnation Flowers - Tutorial

I recently taught myself to make fabric flowers!

It's been great experimenting with different fabrics and methods.

I found this to be one of the easiest.

These flowers were made using lightweight calico, felt, tacky glue, cocktail sticks and gold thread.

                               Using pinking shears, cut out seven circles approx 3.5in diameter.

                                                              Fold each circle in half...

                                                              then fold into an 'S' shape.

 Cut out a small circle, approx 1in diameter, and snip a hole in the center

 

 Add tacky glue...

                                                Carefully stick six petals onto the circle...

                                                                     fluff up a little...

                                            Place a dot of glue onto bottom edges (corners?)...

                                                                    squeeze together...

                                                                     Nearly there...

                                         Fold the extra petal into a smaller petal and hold tight...

                                                          Glue cocktail sticks into folds...

                                                          carefully place under a weight...

                                                When dry insert into center of your flower...

                                                            add a little glue to the base...

                                                            squeeze for a few seconds...

                                                             leave to dry, then fluff up.

                                          I finished off by wrapping the sticks with gold thread. 

                                                                          Ta dah!!
