Photography #8 Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)

6 May 2012

These shots were taken back in February on a cold wintery afternoon in Battersea.
At first glance I thought it was a robin, because of it's red breast, so you can imaging my surprise when I realized this was a new visitor to my feeder.
It had made a few attempts to perch on the bird feeder outside my second floor window, but sadly with no luck. Instead it sat in the silver birch tree, probably wondering how the other birds managed it.
After doing a little research I discovered it was a male Chaffinch. Poor thing must've been hungry.
Hopefully it managed to find a good meal elsewhere.

  2. Lovely photos, poor thing - looks healthy enough so I'm sure he would find food elsewhere!
Thanks for your comment on my blog, crochet is easy by the way, I taught myself a couple of years ago from books, I find it a lot easier to follow than knitting. :) x
